Greater Lawrence Rowing offers Adult Learn-To Row, Adult Morning Recreational (“Sunrise Sweeps”) & Masters Evening Competitive programs throughout the Spring.

The Evening Masters Competitive program is for experienced adult rowers who want to continue to build fitness, technical skills and compete in Masters race events 2020. Practice is 3 times per week (Monday, Wednesday & Friday) and is coached by GLR’s Head Masters Coach, Dr. Larry Bourdeau.
Dates: March 2, 2020 – November 6, 2020
Location: GLR’s Winter Training Facility: Level 3, Building 1, Entrance B, 354 Merrimack Street, Lawrence before return to the Boathouse and on-water training from Monday March 23rd.
Fee: $1,550 (per annum – includes equipment fees)
Adult Learn-to-Row & “Sunrise Sweeps” (Morning Adult Recreational Rowing) will be offered in the Spring pending sufficient interest.
Provisional Programs & Schedule
Adult Learn to Row:
If you’ve ever stood on the river banks watching your daughter or son row by with a tinge of curiosity; If you’ve always wanted to ‘give rowing a try’ – NOW is your chance! We’re offering a six (6) class introduction to sweep-oar rowing in GLR’s stable training catamaran, progressing to a racing shell by the end of the program. (For new adult rowers, this class is a mandatory requirement before graduating to GLR’s Adult Morning Recreational program, “Sunrise Sweeps”. Graduates of Learn To Row will be able to join “Sunrise Sweeps” for a discounted fee to continue the adventure of rowing until the end of Spring)
Dates: March 31 – April 16, 2020
Days: Tuesday & Thursday mornings over three (3) weeks
Time Options: 6:00am – 7:30am OR 7:30am – 9:00am
Class Capacity: 8 in each session
“Sunrise Sweeps” (Morning Adult Recreational Rowing):
GLR’s Adult Morning Recreational program is designed for Novices through to Experienced Rowers seeking an opportunity to get out on the beautiful Merrimack River with like-minded adults and start their day with some non-competitive exercise before work. Participants will row in the club’s 4+ and 8+ boats under the guidance of a Coach. (Participants must have previous rowing experience in a training or racing shell to qualify for ‘Sunrise Sweeps’. If you are unsure, please just reach out and we’ll help you decide)
Dates: March 30 – May 22, 2020 (8 weeks)
Time: 6:00am – 7:30am Monday, Wednesday & Friday mornings
Minimum number of participants required to run: 9
VIP: As we are testing the viability of running these programs, please indicate your interest by registering for the relevant program on Regatta Central (Click HERE) but DO NOT PAY at this time. Simply select the “Pay by Check” option at checkout.
If the interest & enthusiasm I have received over the past months for rebuilding these Adult programs at GLR, translates to actual sign-ups, all registered participants will be notified by email by March 2nd, confirming that we’re “all systems go!”
