
GLR Fall 2025
The Fall 2025 rowing season at Greater Lawrence will be start up on August 25th for the Varsity and Novice youth teams.
Greater Lawrence will be running competitive on water programs for Varsity, Novice and Middle School aged rowers on the Merrimack River. The Fall season will run from Monday, August 25th to Friday November 7th with a focus on head racing through the fall season. The Varsity team will be developing speed in 8+s and 4+s with the priority of creating the fastest boats possible while encouraging a positive environment for all members of our rowing family. Practice is on weekday afternoons with and some weekends are planned for regattas (see Fall 2025 Handbook).

The full racing schedule will be sent out in the GLR Fall Program Handbook at the start of the season.
Coaches
Mike Kapp will be the Head Coach of the Boys and Girls Varsity teams. Thomas Kapp will be the Head Coach of the Boys and Girls Novice teams.

Varsity and Novice
VARSITY
‘Varsity’ is programmed for Experienced Athletes with multiple seasons of rowing experience continuing to develop rowing skills and seeking to compete in fall Varsity regattas. Varsity athletes must have a minimum of 2 novice seasons or one year of competitive rowing to participate.

NOVICE
'Novice' is programmed for High School athletes zero or just one season of rowing experience to continue develop rowing skills acquired in GLR’s Summer Programs and / or Novice rowers learning for the first time. Middle School aged athletes who have participated in our Middle School programs for at least 2 seasons are invited to join as well.

Middle School Rowing
This 2 day per week programs is for athletes in Years 7-8 seeking an introduction to the sport of rowing, or wanting to continue to build on their beginner experience, or simply want to row as an 8th grader without committing to the 5 day per week training schedule. There is
no experience necessary to join. This is a great way to learn how to row in a no pressure, fun environment. Learn the sport of rowing or further your experience in this fun beginner program!

MIDDLE SCHOOL LEARN TO ROW
Programmed for Middle School (Year 6-8) Athletes seeking to learn & develop rowing & sculling skills through their first year of rowing and/or continue building off their first Middle School programs experience. The Fall 2025 Middle School program will be 8 weeks.
Cost: $400
Dates: September 9th – October 30th
Time: Tuesday and Thursday, 5:45-7:30pm
