Mike Kapp

Mike was born in Frankfurt, Germany and grew up in Andover, Massachusetts. He began rowing as a middle schooler at Essex Rowing club in Methuen and competed at the local and national level while attending Andover High. Mike went on to be recruited to Boston University where he found much success at the collegiate level including multiple podium finishes at the Eastern Sprints and IRA national Championship regattas. Mike was elected Co-Captain his senior year at BU and graduated in 2017 with a business degree concentrating in Finance.

Mike began coaching at Essex Rowing Association in 2019 where he ran the Youth and Masters teams. In 2020 he started an online private coaching business to offer to athletes during the pandemic.

After college Mike joined Riverside boat club in Boston, racing with the Men’s Sweeps squad aka “The Meatwagon”, winning Head of the Charles gold medals in 2017 and 2018.
