2019 Spring Adult Programs

Greater Lawrence Rowing offers numerous programs for adults throughout the Spring.  See our offerings below:

Adult Learn to Row

This program is open to all adults with little to no rowing experience and want to learn the basics of the sport of rowing.  This program will focus on sweep rowing, with participants learning about rowing technique, fitness, safety and equipment throughout the 4 weeks. You will start on rowing machines, move to the rowing barge and then to boats to get the full experience.

A swim test is required for those that don’t already have one on file.  The swim test form can be found here.

Masters Competitive Sweep
This program is open to all experienced adult rowers who are looking to improve, train and compete in sweep rowing.  Row with other area adults 3 evenings a week to build fitness levels and improve technical rowing skills with a focus on sweep rowing.  Prior competitive rowing experience is necessary for this group.

A swim test is required for those that don’t already have one on file.  The swim test form can be found here.

Register on Regatta Central for the Competitive Masters Sweep program.

Dates: March 4 – November 8

Practice: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6:00-8:00pm

Fee: $1500 (includes membership, equipment fees, and race fees)

Adult Recreational Rowing
This program is open to anyone out of high school who wants to continue rowing but not give the commitment of competitive rowing. Work on basic technical skills and stay in shape on the water. While not a requirement for competitive rowing, this is a good start to learn or continue the sport without the racing time commitment. This program will include both sculling and sweep rowing, with participants working on the technical aspects of rowing as well as working on applying power to the rowing stroke.

This program is for those with prior rowing experience but who do not wish to compete.

A swim test is required for those that don’t already have one on file.  The swim test form can be found here.

Logbook Sculling

Logbook Sculling is for those that want to row a club single on their own schedule.  Once you pass the written and on-the-water captains tests, you can then use club singles un-coached, on your own time using the logbook shed to sign in and out.  A swim test and captains test are required for this program.

*End date is subject to change based on weather and when the docks are removed for the winter.

A swim test is required for those that don’t already have one on file.  The swim test form can be found here.

Adult Morning Sculling

The coached morning sculling program is open to anyone with prior sculling experience who wants to take their skills and fitness to the next level. Participants will have two coached classes a week. One class will focus on skills, drills, and technique and the second class will focus on applying that knowledge in a coach led workout. You will be placed into a technique session based on experience level. Both small groups will join together on Friday for the fitness workout and skill application. Athletes will focus on technique and fitness to improve their sculling performance or to prepare them for racing.
